What is the Amazon returns settlement?
Amazon agreed to pay $309.5 million to settle a class action saying some returns weren't refunded properly. Amazon denies doing anything wrong. A judge still has to give final approval at a hearing on March 16, 2027.
Am I eligible?
You may be if you returned something you bought on Amazon.com and had shipped in the U.S. between September 5, 2017 and February 12, 2026, and you never got your refund, got it late, got less than you should have, or got refunded and then charged again for the same item.
Do I need to file a claim?
It depends on which group your notice puts you in. Subclass A is paid automatically; you just choose how you want to be paid on ReturnSettlement.com. Subclass B must file a claim by December 1, 2026, or gets nothing. Not sure which you are? Call 1-888-553-4246 or email info@ReturnSettlement.com.
What do I need for a Subclass B claim?
For each return: the order number, what you returned, when you asked for the refund and how much it was, and proof. Proof can be a screenshot of your Amazon account, a return receipt, or a bank statement showing the refund never arrived.
How do I find returns Amazon never refunded?
Go through the returns in Your Orders on Amazon and look for each refund on your bank or card statement. Flag any that are missing, smaller than they should be, or were charged back later. How much will I get, and when?
There's no set amount. Subclass A payments are based on the refund you were owed, plus some interest. Subclass B members split a smaller pool based on how much each was owed. Nobody is paid until the judge gives final approval, so not before March 16, 2027, and later if there are appeals.
What if my missing refund isn't covered?
You can still get it back. Contact Amazon customer service with the order number and your proof of return. If that doesn't work, you can dispute the charge with your card company, though card companies have time limits.
Is this the same as the Amazon Prime settlement?
No. The separate $2.5 billion Prime settlement with the FTC is about Prime sign-ups and cancellations, not returns. The two have different rules and deadlines.
